The International Work-to-Live Project is an incorporated nonprofit whose main purpose is to study, assess, and mitigate the effects of occupational diseases in emerging economies. The largest of these economies, including the BRIMC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, Mexico, and China) are undergoing periods of rapid and unparalleled economic growth. In most instances, their governments do not possess the necessary tools to regulate or monitor businesses in the field of occupational safety and health (OSH).

Though it is often assumed that OSH awareness/education and a business-friendly environment do not go hand-in-hand, but nothing could be further from the truth. Research on solutions to occupational health diseases and ailments on a preemptive basis will help save employers and employees time and money in the future.

Cost-effective research on OSH topics is rare because such studies present phenomenal operational challenges. Fears of job losses and political intimidation make conducting community-based studies extremely difficult. Studies of diseases in emerging economies will have to be done with great care and competence. Our mission is to be a party on the side of the people. With no legal or political motives, we intend to assess and respond to the needs of communities that need our help.

Initially, our organization will focus on a selected list of projects driven by our medical advisory team. In the future, we hope to expand this list to include most types of pneumoconioses, airway diseases, and pesticide-related diseases.
